2025 NFPA 13 Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems

NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems 2025 edition establishes mandatory requirements for the design, installation, and testing of automatic sprinkler systems across occupancy types — from light hazard residential and commercial applications through ordinary and extra hazard industrial and storage occupancies. • New Chapter 7 provisions allowing vapor phase corrosion inhibitors to be added to the air supply for dry pipe and preaction systems as a corrosion reduction method.
• Several revisions to sprinkler placement criteria and allowable omissions throughout the standard.
• Chapter 4 revisions dividing miscellaneous and low-piled storage protection requirements into two separate sections.
• Chapter 9 additions allowing omission of sprinklers in elevator hoistways in most situations.
• Chapter 18 revisions updating load tables to incorporate seismic forces from piping and revising seismic coefficient (Cp) values to align with ASCE/SEI 7, with Annex E modified to allow conformance with ASCE/SEI 7 for locations outside the United States.
