2024 NFPA 306 Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels

NFPA 306, Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels 2024 edition establishes the mandatory minimum requirements for identifying and mitigating gas hazards on marine vessels, in shipyards, and at waterfront facilities. The standard addresses the fire protection and life safety risks associated with concentrations of combustible, flammable, or toxic liquids, gases, chemicals, and vapors, and prescribes the requirements for safe entry and work in confined spaces aboard vessels and in land-side confined spaces within shipyard and vessel repair facility boundaries.

The standard applies to vessels during construction, alteration, repair, and shipbreaking operations, as well as stationary and mobile land-side confined spaces located within waterfront facility boundaries.
